TOKYO— Yutaka Katayama, a former president of Nissan Motor Co.’s U.S. unit who turned the Z sports car into a powerful global brand in the 1970s, has died. He was 105.

Here is some info for MDZ as you feel appropriate to advise everyone.

Dave Muramoto is one of the Editors of Nissan Sport magazine. He called me about an hour ago as I was driving home after picking up Anna from her pre-school, my new retirement job!

Dave advised that he was calling all persons who contributed materials to Nissan Sport to say that the magazine will not continue into 2013. They have arranged for subscribers to be picked up by Grassroots Motorsports magazine. Dave said that the costs were just prohibitive, with declining receipts from advertisers, declining subscription base, and it was just hard to compete with online venues.

I thanked him for the opportunity to provide a few articles on special items in my collection that ran on the "Rearview Mirror" last page.
